Sweden will host 2011 World Transplant Games.

The Officers and Councillors of the World Transplant Games Federation are pleased to announce that Sweden has won the bid to host the 2011 World Transplant Games.  Congratulations Sweden!

The Games will be held in Göteborg, Sweden, 17-24 June 2011

The warmest welcome to Göteborg 2011

We welcome the World Transplant Games Federation and competitors and accompanying persons from all countries to Sweden and Göteborg in 2011.
Transplanted athletes from Sweden have participated in many World Transplant Games, almost since the beginning.  Yes we sure have travelled the world.  The time has now come for us to be the generous host and to have a chance to give back some of the generosity, warmth and fun that we have received during the years.  We want to show the world and all Swedes hundreds of success stories from people that go the gift of life.
We want to use the Games for research and for Door Recognition Program, and for a special program that targets medical staff in our hospitals in Sweden.

We want to say a special welcome to the children.  Together with the Mayflower organisation we have made a special program where they can meet Swedish kids and participate in special activities.

We want to create environmentally friendly games including cars and buses driven by gas or ethanol, and with a minimum of transportation.  It will be walking distance to all hotels, to the Games Village and to most of the arenas.

At last – we offer a warm, safe and fun city for the 18th World Transplant Games, at the very best time of the year – the Swedish summer.  The light, the colours and the friendly people, all together will give all visitors lifetime memories from the World Transplant Games 2011 in Göteborg.
