The Nicholas Cup
A Ski Event for Transplanted Children

This bi-annual event takes place as a separate event within the Winter World Transplant Games.

Transplanted children from around the world are invited to a week of fun on the snow, learning to ski, mixing with other transplanted children, gaining in confidence and generally having fun.

The Nicholas Cup was founded in memory of Nicholas Green, a young American boy who was killed in Italy and whose family donated his organs for the benefit of others.

In March 2008 more than 40 children travelled to Rovaniemi, Finalnd, to enjoy a week of fun on the snow – beginners in skiing but with some tuition, you can see the happy smiling faces in the picture below.  They were treated to a meeting with Santa Claus as well as other local characters – there was cross country skiing, slalom, bowling, swimming and lots of other indoor and outdoor activities to choose from.
